Total number of films you own

Probably about 50, including home taped ones.

The last film I bought

A German copy of "Cypher" as one of the extras is a short film by Vincenzo Natali called "Elevated" which I've been searching for for ages.

The last film I watched at home

Nothing - bizzare, funny, superb, and contains a fully grown man saying "candybarcandybarcandybar" over and over again.

Five films that mean a lot to mean or that I watch a lot

Fight Club - My favourite film if I had to select one. Beautifully directed, wonderfully paced, and one of the most insightful Marxist critiques of modern society (trust me on this).

A Beautiful Mind - Who thought a film about maths could be this good? Who thought Russell Crowe could act? There is a moment in this film where John Nash's mind lights up - it is the most articulate expression of the moments of learning which make me spark. I have never been able to explain it to anyone, and now I can just point them to this film.

And, not pushing the 'me as maths genius' analogy too far, (which is so far from the truth) It taught me not to push myself too hard at a time I really needed to learn it.

Plus, it mentions Cooperation Theory.

Empire of the Sun - A wonderful film, and one of my most abiding childhood memories is of watching this until 2am with my brother. It has the most heartbreaking piece of music as a running theme throughout it (its name escapes me) and is guaranteed to make me cry.

All the President's Men - A classic, and Robert Redford with a notebook.

The Towering Inferno - My guilty pleasure. I adore disaster movies, and the worse, the better. And this is the disaster movie to end all disaster movies. Also, the cat gets out alive.

Five people from your friends list to do this next, and why

I'm not sure I have anyone left on my friends list do I? erm... [livejournal.com profile] nualanightbloom [livejournal.com profile] heatherbelles [livejournal.com profile] dawnybee [livejournal.com profile] bentheslayer [livejournal.com profile] jins_girlie randomly selected...

I'm going to do this meme tomorrow at work, when it quietens down in the evening.

I haven't watched Empire of the Sun for ages, but I always cry at the end, as 'Suo Gan' plays (which I'm assuming is the piece you're referring two) and he's reuinited with his parents.
It's actually a welsh lullaby!
