You learn something new everyday....
Jul. 11th, 2004 03:33 pmOkay, so apparently I didn't know what the Elgin Marbles were. I *thought* I knew, I have had quite long and complicated discussions with Greek people who would like them back, but all this time it turns out they are not what I thought they were. What is more worrying is that I have no idea what I did think they were, but I certainly thought they were just one thing not a whole collection of things.
Anyway, this of course led to an unforgettable incident (unforgettable due to the presence of [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and
indian_skimmer , who are not people to let such comedy potential be forgotten.) in which I was sat directly in front of the damn things, and uttered the phrase "so where are they then?"
*Sigh* I can never have these revelations whilst by myself, or after I have discreetly checked the (far, far too small) labels, it's always, always in front of people.
Anyway, we had an extremely educational weekend, visiting both The British Museum and The Natural History Museum (where it's possible [Bad username or site: @ livejournal.com] and I set some kind of record for time spent staring at rocks.) We did cancel out the educational theme by spending the evenings watching cartoons.
Work tomorrow, no new job to look forward to.
