Apr. 27th, 2004 06:13 pmI have had a horrible, horrible day
Today I spent my whole day helping a lady move from the residential home where she is being severly abused into a new home. Apart from the fact that everything that could go wrong did go wrong, I had to lift all her luggage (including a fridge) into my car and I threw my back out again. This was while the "care" (and I use the term nominally) staff stood around and watched me.
We then arrive at the new home to find she had been assessed incorrectly and the equipment she needs doesn't fit in her tiny room. I then have a half hour discussion with the manager about why it is not appropriate to turf another resident with dementia out of her room to accomodate my client.
To top this off I ended the day sitting in my client's new room, holding her hand whilst she cried her eyes out and begged me to help her die. All I could fucking do was hold her hand.
I'm not entirely sure I can do this for much longer. It worries me that I seem to be getting hardened to the whole thing. Just the tone of this entry makes it seem like I don't really care and I do it's just I can't care too much or I wouldn't get out of bed in the morning.
I'm tired, hungry and in need of chocolate and beer. I have neither but I do have last night's excellent Smallville.
1) Lionel and Jonathan beating the crap out of each other. It's the only non-superpowered, non special effects fight we've ever had, and it was brilliant.
2)"Weakness isn't something you're born with it's something you learn, and Clark learned his from you"
3) Dr Swann out doing Lionel in the creepiness stakes, which I didn't really think was possible.
4) The complete lack of detail about Jonathan's deal with Jor-el. What the hell *is* he waiting for?
5) The possibility that Dr Swann is evil and/or Jor-el.
6) Lex being amazingly sarcastic to the FBI, Lionel and anyone else who'd listen.
7) "They're your enemies Clark, not me"
8) The fact that this episode contained Clark pushing Lex against his car and ripping his shirt off, some meaningful shoulder squeezing, and an amazingly jealous!Lex and none of these were my favourite part
9) Very little Lana, although unfortunately still some. (Note to writers, why on earth do you bother wasting two minutes which could've been filled with Jonathan and his shot gun, with Lana going on and on and on about something we didn't even care about three years ago when she first mentioned it?)
There. Bad day, good Smallville.
