Ebay is Evil

It was just one item I couldn't get anywhere else. I'm a strong person, I can resist.

Suddenly I'm buying things all over the place...

It helps that ebay prices have gotten higher/closer to retail.

*feels your pain*

Right now I want one of the ab loungers and...well I hope you can understand my dilemna.

they're still not *quite* retail though...

What are you looking for? Tech I can always find cheaper online. Clothes - TJ Maxx my friend, TJ Maxx. (I don't pay full price for anything!)

I'm not looking for anything, that's the problem.

I got the thing I wanted, but now I can't stop!

Welcome to the club. Ebay has not helped my handbag fetish, and my collection of first editions is slowly growing as my bank balance is depleting.

I think I'm just going to have to disable paypal and ban it from my computer

What were you buying? I started out buying posters for the classroom. It's an easy spiral downwards.

Shoes! Buy shoes! And archaeology textbooks and test programmes.

if I start on the test programmes I will never stop... although, I do have an ashes series to complete.

Also they have a Glamorgan/Lancashire 2005 programme signed by Flintoff and "Geraint Jones" and I'm just on the verge of e-mailing the seller to ask a) Why on earth Geraint would be in Glamorgan, and b) Why would he sign his name Simon.

Date: 2006-05-25 09:26 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] indian-skimmer.livejournal.com
I'm mildly suspicious of that because neither of those signatures look like either Geraint's (he has a very distinctive 'G') or Flintoff's. Or Simon's for that matter.

And Flintoff's signature isn't that difficult to forge. They're just not making an effort at all.

I know, you'd think given the amount of genuine signed stuff flying around they'd be able to make a good copy.

From: [identity profile] indian-skimmer.livejournal.com
Actually maybe that's proof that Geraint just spends his non-playing days stalking Simon at county matches.

Okay, I have to ask people about shoe fetishes. What kinds of shoes? Where do you buy? I want to know everything about your shoe buying experience.

I would love to tell you I scour e-bay due to an exciting shoe fetish, but the truth is I have size 3 feet and can't get shoes in normal shops because they usually only go down to a 4.

Having said that, I do keep buying dressy heels that I can't walk in, just incase I ever get the chance to wear them somewhere.

If I ever manage to get myself over to the UK again (which is possible for early-mid 2007) I'll make you take me somewhere dressy so I can laugh at you while you totter around in heels (you may even have to carry a handbag!).

That's so mean...

I don't even think I *own* a handbag.

From: [identity profile] kitkat3979.livejournal.com
I'll lend you one of mine. I have far more than is practicable.

Some of them are really little. You won't even notice you're carrying it... honest!

From: [identity profile] indian-skimmer.livejournal.com
Ah, but that's the problem with handbags. They're so little!

I have keys and a wallet and my phone and loose change and sunglasses and an umbrella and water and pens and tissues and plasters and a pair of flat shoes and my three different types of medication and a book in case I get stranded somewhere with nowhere to read.

A handbag just isn't enough.

I also have giant handbags that are close to totes in size. You can borrow one of them instead.

Yay for impending visit! Also, keep your diary free for December of 2010. Di and I are coming over for the Ashes....

Date: 2006-06-20 07:29 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] kitkat3979.livejournal.com
Well the impending visit depends on how much I spend on an apartment (I'm househunting, and preemptively stressed about money).

I'll definitely have a place of my own by 2010, so you will both have to come and stay with me (where will they be playing the Ashes? - you'll have to come and visit Adelaide anyway).

Ooh, we could go on a Penguin walk (in Victor Harbor the penguins all come out of the water after the sun goes down to go back to their nests, you stand on the boardwalks and they walk right by).

Oh, and I got your postcard - thanks! I've got something to send to you and Di too - I have had since February - so hopefully you'll actually get it before Christmas.

They play a test in Adelaide, so that will be the one we aim for. sadly, neither of us had the money to go this winter

You can start planning our itinerary now... although I refuse to go horse riding.

Yay for suprise things! It took me a year and a half to send your birthday present, so no worries.

What if the horses ran along a gorgeous beach, and took us to the pub for lunch?

You could wear thicker trousers with some advanced notice...

And I've been house hunting again this weekend, so I'll definitely have my own place by the time you come over.

From: [identity profile] lemonbella.livejournal.com
How about I started walking several hours earlier and joined you at the pub?

Any activity in which you have to wear thicker trousers in order to protect yourself from injuries is not an activity in which I wish to participate.

Yay! for having your own place.

Ebay is the devil, second in evilness only to Cafepress. Be strong, fight the urge and your bank balance will survive...

I've been very good and have never bought anything from Ebay but I know it's only a matter of time. I was looking at MASH t shirts online the other day and I really really want one.

I haven't registered. Which is probably the only thing stopping me from clicking bid now. I know someone who ended up owning a car. He placed his bid but didn't expect to win. He felt very foolish.

I try not to go there, because I can't leave without buying clusters of things. I can go months, then bam, seven auctions at once. Books, usually. *sigh*

I keep wanting shiny pretty necklaces/pendants.

I'll be good for ages, and *bam* I'm ordering several.

It's not helped when one of the sellers does 'buy three or more and I'll include a free gift' So, I *have* to get three then.

Luckly, they were all fair inexpensive...

I bought a whole heap of crap that I didn't need, and didn't even really want, just because winning the auctions is fun.

There's some Buffy stuff that I'm still happy I bought, but I've thrown out some of the other things that seemed like a good idea at the time.

p.s. I haven't been on LJ for a little while, so don't be alarmed at the comments on all your recent entries while I stalk your LJ to catch up.
