Insert inconsolable howl of rage

You see this? This feeling of crushing disappointment and grief? This feeling that somehow *I* have just got out in a situation which would have been a perfect opportunity to prove my critics wrong at the home of my main challenger?

This is why I don't like getting invested in players. This is why I ignored a year and a half of Geraint's test career. This is why I sometimes have to push English cricket to the back of my brain and pretend I'm not so much of a fan after all.

[livejournal.com profile] indian_skimmer Are you sure it's a wise idea for us to watch the New Year Ashes Test together? I'm not a lot of fun to be around when I'm like this, and there might possibly be tears. If The Thing That Won't Possibly Happen does in fact happen I may associate it with you and never be able to speak to you again...

I think on balance we may need the emotional support, and to stop each other doing any kind of physical damage to ourselves (technically, me doing physical damage to myself) if it all goes horribly wrong.

And from my point of view, it will mean I'm kicking someone else's furniture...

The big pine box is very kickable in moments of high stress. It makes a satisfying cruch when it falls over without actually breaking in half.

I also have a fluffy lapwing with a squeaker in it which makes a deeply satisfying squwak when it hits the TV at high speed.

I'm so naming the lapwing "Ricky"

*strokes Ricky The Lapwing protectively*

He has sticky up hair and a little bald patch at the back...

I also have Bruce The Penguin who, usefully, is actually Australian.

I also have an Australian Penguin (called Shane) so perhaps I'll bring him for more ammunition.

They're surprisingly aerodynamic. And Shane's a fantastic name for a penguin.

I like to think the Australian Tourist Board manufactured them for their ability to be hurtled at Sky Sports.
