The working title for this was "Ronon is so cool". And they're right, he is.

I don't care if this was a rewrite of Unnatural Selection, it was absolutely bloody fabulous.



Also, what's this trend for 'episode DVD commentaries'? "The Fringedwellers' Guide" has been doing that for years. Also, we're funny. Although possibly only to us.

Being an idiot isn't mutually exclusive to appearing on the Bigger Boat.

He mightn't of blown up a galaxy but he has blithely experimented on an entire race, been exteremly naive and almost got everyone else killed, *and* he didn't get shouted at about it.

True, he was being incredibly naive and just a bit worryingly Nazi-like but the buck didn't stop with him, which was kind of the point of the whole Weir-at-the-SGC thing. They did try to give him a moment of oh-my-god-what-have-I-done, but it wasn't handled well. they should have either made more of it or not done it at all, which would have given us a whole new look at his character, albeit an unnerving one.

Plus nobody shouts at him because he doesn't shout at anyone else.

It was a very badly written episode, because it could have been a fantastic look at Carson and Elizabeth.

It's down to bad writing but it's notable that Rodney is held accountable for his mistakes, but other people aren't. It seems an unwritten message that if you're not a nice person then you take the fall (Rodney and Kavanaugh) but if people like you then it's okay to fuck up.

I spoke to a blind man from Worcester today who also told me everyone in the ground is really friendly. Either they actually are, or they're all very rude and just have a great PR campaign.

If they clap Geraint, I'll give serious thought to applauding Kabir Ali. Possibly.
