It's like an old friend....

I turned on to see England at 41-3 chasing 221 and I actually burst out laughing. It's so nice to have that weight of expectation lifted.

Also, in the interests of making bizarre and irrational statements about wicket keepers - everyone else has been doing it for so long I may as well join in now - I'm backing Nixon to win this one for us.

I'm mainly backing Nixon because he has Entirely Correct Opinions About Geraint Jones and is therefore a Good Person but also because he's old, and if cricket isn't a sport for old and/or fat people, I don't want a part of it.

I like Paul Nixon. I prefer him to Read, maning because Nixon can actually bat and doesn't make me want to smack him.

Not wanting to smack him is a big part of my rational as well. However, I wouldn't get too excited about Paul Nixon's batting. It doesn't look like it's going to stand up to too much pressure. Still better than Read's though.

He's got more character behind the stumps as well, far more then Read. That's what you need, gee up the team and get in the ear of the batsman and things.
