Everyone should have their own minion.....

My Minion began work on Wednesday. (She's only a part time Minion) I have so far been able to delegate Four(Four! Count'em) pieces of work to her. Admittedly the freedom created by delegation was rapidly filled by my boss delegating seven peices of work to me, but that's not the point.

I have a minion to order around, it's so much fun. I just need to get her to understand that arriving in the office half an hour early is not an admirable trait, and far from ingratiating herself, she is, in fact, interrupting valuable coffee drinking and e-mail reading time.

I need people to poke me this weekend, as I have several bits of writing floating around that need some concentration time.....

No, I have nearly called her it on a number of occassions, but so far have managed to keep to her actual name.

Damn, I really miss having minions. I called them assistants, but it's the same thing, yeah? I used to have like 10 who managed another 300-500 volunteers. Those were the days. Of course I still had to work 70+ hours a week...

Yeah, it does actually seem to add to my work time, which is shame. But the ability to be able to pass off all the cases I can't stand is worth it. I have volunteers too but they're only really half-minions.

I like the idea of minions, but from experience you have to spend so long showing them how to do things (which they then do badly) that it's usually easy to make them stand in a corner and just do it yourself. I yelled at mine a lot.

It's tiring, having to tell her everything. And I keep finding myself writing lists of things she should have done that I need to check she has done, but I'm hoping that will pass. However, the sheer joy of being able to think "I don't want to do that, aha.. I'll ask Minion to do it" will never leave me.
